What causes us to focus on the Giver and not just the Gifts?

Our focus often shifts. Some days we are consumed with the pursuit of our heart's desire. That's why we ask, seek, and knock. We, like children, grab from our Father's hand the prizes He offers...and then move on. But there are times when obstacles stand between us and our quest. Those moments force a pause and will place, for us at least, an unknown amount of time between us and our goals. I find that these times will center my heart on the Giver of all good things and not just what He brings. I believe God has ordered our path in such a way that there would necessarily be times of waiting so we would seek Him. Isn't that just like God...turns out waiting can be good for us. He's not the one who needed more time...we did.
